Continuing to Reform the Reformers
Craig Richardson
Our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, made headlines again today with the release of a document that attempts to address the widespread problems that have crept into the ecumenical movement since Vatican II. Of course, he is being crucified by the secular press -- and other Christian churches -- for reiterating the primacy of the Catholic Church. Screamed the Associated Press: Pope: Other Christian Denominations Not True Churches.
Ecumenical efforts have always been a difficult tightrope to walk, balancing charitable dialog with a need to preserve the Truth as it is laid down by Jesus Christ and recorded by His apostles. I'm glad the Pope is reminding everyone that the Truth is paramount in this equation, even if it means offending some.
