Rev. Rude Confirms the Anti-Catholic E-Mail
Deal Hudson
The "Window" has confirmed that it was Rev. Tim Rude, pastor of Walnut Creek Community Church, Windsor Heights, Iowa, who wrote the offensive e-mail received by members of the Brownback campaign.
Rev. Rude, who left the Catholic Church 30 years ago, plans on issuing an apology. He says he did not intend the e-mail to be made public.
"All I was trying to say" he explained, "is that Protestants should vote for Protestants."
I THOUGHT WE VOTED FOR THE PERSON THAT WAS BEST FOR THE JOB! NOT THEIR RELIGION!!! PASTOR RUDE CERTAINLY FITS HIS NAME!!!
BUT MY EXPEPERIANCE WITH PEOPLE LIKE HIS SORT, IS , LET US PRAY FOR HIM AND OTHERS THAT ARE ANTI CATHOLIC,ANTI ORTHODOX ! AS JESUS SAID : FORGIVE THEM FATHER THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO:

I am Catholic and had the pleasure of meeting Mike Huckabee a few months ago and would consider voting for him. I will be meeting Sam Brownback and will also consider voting for him too. Right now, I'm actually leaning against both and leaning towards Ron Paul, whom I have no idea what his religion is.
I find it so strange that there is such bigotry against the Catholic Church from those who willingly accept the Bible which was given to them by the Catholic Church. Seems odd to me that one would accept the authority of the Church in regards to the Bible, then compleletly reject the faith of those who canonized the New Testament.

The quote that was made by the author was made up. The author knows it but willingly disregards the truth in order to support his lie. Deal Hudson, would you go on record stating that the quote, "protestants should vote for protestants," is a valid quote by Rev. Tim Rude? Please don't smash someone's reputaton with lies to prove your point.

While I appreciate Rev. Rude issuing an apology I really don't think its very sincere as evidenced by his belated rationale for sending the email (Protestants should vote for Protestants) and the fact that it was supposed to be private email (i.e., my bigotry is OK if its in private but once it gets out I better apologize). Can you imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth if the Holy Father or a Bishop told Catholics that they should only vote for Catholics?
Catholics account for 16% of the population and I am sure Mr. Huckabee was appalled at the potential for losing any of those votes. All Rev. Rude has done is expose the deep divisions in Christianity caused by the Reformation. I would be willing to bet that like many fallen-away Catholics he left the Church because of some issue (divorce, contraception, whatever). Something that possibly he wanted to engage in with a "clear" conscience so he needed to find a religion that agreed with his personal views. He is probably a minister because he couldn't find a church that 100% agreed with his views so he decided to start his own, how typically protestant.
You can't judge a candidate by the actions of his supporters and either Mr. Huckabee or Sen. Brownback are an excellent choice for a conservative voter.
